The latest ad campaign to come out of New York-based Calvin Klein features a biological woman turned “man” with a beard and a pregnant belly.
The grotesque imagery, which was released specifically for Mother’s Day, depicts the obese, tattooed woman in Calvin Klein underwear that looks more like a diaper. The slice marks underneath her severed breasts are also visibly apparent in the disgusting photo series.
Calvin Klein apparently thought that this vomit-inducing ad series would compel more Americans to buy its products, but instead there has been serious backlash against the company.
According to its executives, the purpose of the transgender ad campaign was to pay “tribute” to mothers and women everywhere. Calvin Klein says that depicting butchered trans bodies shows the different aspects of motherhood in America today.
The “realities of new families,” the company added, are fully depicted in the mutilated body of “Roberto Bete,” a female-to-male transgender reality television star who was actually pregnant at the time of the photo shoot.
“The photos show Bete posing with exposed stomach and top-surgery scars alongside his partner, Erica Feeha, a transgender woman,” reported Newspunch.
In a statement, Bete said that it and its partner “can reproduce biologically or from the heart,” whatever that means. It added that “our role in the world is to love and be loved.”
On Twitter, Steven Crowder hit back at the campaign, pointing out that it was released during a major baby formula shortage.
“The Left says men are the root of all problems, so it’s only fair to blame pregnant men right?” Crowder further wrote. “I wonder what Calvin Klein has to say about this.”
Another wrote that everyone she talked to about the ad is “as disgusted as I am and everybody has the same intention; to never buy their brand again.”
Most of the world probably did not even see the ad, which is how it should be.
“Can someone explain to me whether the people supporting this campaign believe this is actually a pregnant dude, or if they’re just pretending for the game but they secretly know that 1+1=2 and also dudes can’t get pregnant?” asked Pardes Seleh, a real estate agent with a verified blue checkmark on Twitter.
“Everyone with a brain knows that there is no such thing as a pregnant man,” wrote another. “These things in this picture are just two confused individuals that live in a fantasy land. I will NEVER buy another CK product again. Disgusting.”
The good news is that it is really easy to never support Calvin Klein. The company sells run-of-the-mill products that many other companies also sell, so skipping the CK label is about as easy as it gets.
“So it’s a dude pretending to be a chick with a chick pretending to be a dude,” wrote someone at Newspunch. “How about therapy and not a child?”
Another asked when mental illness became a fashion statement? The answer is fairly recently.
“Is it really possible for a member of the alphabet crowd to drink enough beer to get that big of a beer gut?” wrote another jokingly.
The purpose behind drawing attention to this abomination and others like it is to show the world how evil corporate America – and America, period – has become. It is becoming more “normal” to see this kind of garbage being broadcast in the media than normal, real families with a mom, a dad and children.
