The legitimacy of so-called “higher education” is once again being called into question following the recent revelation that academic journals are now actively publishing ridiculous and completely bogus studies, simply because they support various leftist narratives.
A trio of researchers – Helen Pluckrose, a researcher and author; James Lindsay, an author with a doctorate in mathematics; and Peter Boghossian, a philosophy professor – set out to prove that academic bias has all but totally delegitimized the scientific process. And to say they succeeded would be an understatement.
According to reports, the three individuals were able to get seven fake studies accepted for publishing, and four of these have already been published online. Seven more are said to be under review, and six others were rejected.
So what was the subject matter of the accepted studies? One of them suggests that men should insert objects up their rear ends in order to “decrease transphobia” and improve men’s understanding of “feminist values.” Another of the fake studies claims that men enjoy visiting “breastaurants” like Hooters “because they are nostalgic for patriarchal dominance and enjoy being able to order attractive women around.
Another, which we highlighted at Censored.news, claims that dog parks promote “rape culture.”
This particular fake study was so outlandish that it did catch the attention of Tori Airaksinen, who after looking into it further discovered that the alleged “author” of the study had lied about her credentials. Pluckrose, Lindsay, and Boghossian ultimately decided in this particular instance “to conclude the project early.”
Yet another of the fake studies lambastes anyone who dares to criticize “social justice” theory, and is deliberately filled with “bitter, divorced feminist” ramblings that were written using a “teenage angst poetry generator.” This same fake paper also contains portions of Adolph Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” work, but rewritten using “fashionable buzzwords.”
The experiment in creating these fake studies and getting most of them accepted and published proves that academia at large has pretty much jumped the shark at this point.
“Something has gone wrong in the university – especially in certain fields within the humanities,” the three researchers who endeavored to prove this are quoted as saying.
In explaining another fake study they submitted that suggests fat people deserved to be praised while fit people who build muscle should be shamed, the three stated that they wanted “to see if journals will accept arguments which are ludicrous and positively dangerous to health if they support cultural constructivist arguments around body positivity and fatphobia.”
What this all suggests is that academia is on a sharp decline towards total irrelevance. You might even call it “fake education” – the deliberate brainwashing of anyone dumb enough to take fake science that pushes leftist narratives seriously.
Based on the findings of their research, the three individuals who put it all together are urging scholars everywhere to take it seriously, especially if they themselves want to be taken seriously. They are urging:
“… all major universities to begin a thorough review of these areas of study (gender studies, critical race theory, postcolonial theory, and other ‘theory’-based fields in the humanities and reaching into the social sciences, especially including sociology and anthropology), in order to separate knowledge-producing disciplines and scholars from those generating constructivist sophistry.”
As we earlier reported, fake studies are rampant in the sciences as well. A disturbing amount of what’s published in medical journals these days is similarly faked in order to promote an agenda, usually against natural remedies and supplements and in favor of Big Pharma.
